The University of Louisiana at Monroe (Monroe, LA), is sponsoring African American Heritage Week, April 8 – 12, 2013. Don Cincone is scheduled to speak at this event on April 10, 2013, at 4:00 p.m., Strauss Hall, room 148.

The noted international artist will speak on the empowerment of art and the stories behind some of his paintings.

Louisiana artist Don Cincone will conduct a painting workshop at Kiroli Park Lodge in West Monroe, LA, on Monday, April 29 thru Thursday May 2, 2013, 9:00 pm until 4:00 pm daily. The workshop is sponsored by the Ouachita River Art Gallery.

Delta Sigma Theta hosts “Ovations: Jazz & Heritage”

The Monroe Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will host “Ovations: Jazz & Heritage”. The event will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 7 p.m., at King’s Palace in Monroe, Louisiana and will feature a pianist, trumpeter, artist, storyteller and poet. Artwork will also be displayed by international artist Don Cincone.

Tickets for the event are $20.00 each and can be obtained from any member of the Monroe Alumnae Chapter or by calling the committee chairperson, Stephanie Carter, 537-2891.

The OUACHITA RIVER ART GALLERY recently sponsored an Oil and Acrylic Painting workshop with Don Cincone. Melanie Douthit of “Melanie Douthit Art Studio” has written an article about her participation in the workshop.

Cincone appeared on “NBC 10 News Today” (video), and talked about the workshop which was held Monday, April 30th – Thursday, May 3rd, 2012, at Kiroli Park Lodge, West Monroe, LA, from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm each day. Cincone’s painting,”Mama Sally’s House was featured in the segment.
